Thanks for this. As head of housekeeping at the Ananda Ashram in upstate New York I am always looking for ways to maximize my space and efficiency. You can imagine my excitement this summer when a German girl arrived for work study. I don't usually blindly follow stereotypes, but my hopeful expectactions came true and she ended up being a meticulous, exact cleaner. She showed me the same technique and I have adored it ever since.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she uses this technique because Martha Stewart has a technique that's almost exactly the same but for some reason not quite as tidy. I'm bet that with the pure volume of sheets that you're dealing with it would make a real difference.

ReplyDeleteAfter some years of housekeepery, I realized I could save hours per month by NOT folding things that didn't really need folding. First to go were socks and undies. Then, t-shirts. I like to think of my fitted sheets as 'gathered.'
